Alarm Techs Apprenticeship - Certificate III in Fire Protection Control (UEE31007)
JIST has recently obtained “scope” to deliver the Certificate III in Fire Protection Control. This qualification provides skills and knowledge to select, install, set up, fault find, repair and maintain fire protection systems in multiple, commercial and industrial premises. Importantly, the qualification also contains 5 fire protection specialist units:
• Position and terminate fire detection and warning systems apparatus
• Verify compliance and functionality of fire protection installations
• Enter and verify programs in preparation for commissioning fire protection systems
• Commission commercial fire protection systems
• Find and repair faults in fire protection systems
The completion of the qualification will also lead to an Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) cabling license.
JIST is currently negotiating with the Department of Education and Training to have the qualification declared and funded as an apprenticeship. It is expected that training will commence in early 2011.
Please contact JIST for further information.
