Refunds:back to top
Once training begins, no refund will be given if you leave before finishing the course, unless you can prove that there was a medical reason or other hardship. In those cases, a refund will be given minus an administration fee of $50. If JIST cancels or suspends the training, a full refund will be given. Students under User Choice arrangements are invoiced on completion of training blocks/modules and those who withdraw from a block/module once training has commenced will only be invoiced for the proportionate amount of the training received. All monies paid to JIST in advance will be identified separately and will be held by a recognised banking institution until such time as they are due to JIST.
Qualifications issued by other RTOs:back to top
JIST recognises the Australian Quality Framework (AQF) qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).
Recognition of prior learning (RPL):back to top
Recognition of Prior learning (RPL) will be granted to any student who can demonstrate that they already possess the skills and competencies required by this course. You will be required to provide evidence that you possess any skills and competencies for which you are claiming RPL, in particular, knowledge of the Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995 and regulations. There is a charge for having an application for RPL assessed. Please contact our office for more information.
Access, equity, language and literacy:back to top
JIST recognizes that trainees may differ in their needs and abilities and the level of service they require. Because of this, JIST has an access and equity policy. If you believe there are any barriers (such as language or literacy difficulties or physical or mental disability) that could be detrimental to your participation in this course, please advise the Training Officer.
Language and literacy:
We understand that some trainees may need help because of language or literacy difficulties. Please contact us for more information or tell the Trainer before the course starts.
Client support and welfare and guidance services:
Where appropriate, JIST can provide you with details of where you can get help with improving your language or literacy or with any other matter that may impact on your ability to do this training. Please speak to the Trainer for more information about the type of support available.
Flexible learning and assessment procedures:
This course is assessed by way of an in-class exercise and by answering 11 multiple choice questions. If you want to do your assessment in another way (for example a verbal test of your understanding), please ask the Trainer.
Disciplinary procedures:back to top
JIST encourages discussion and wants trainees to enjoy a relaxed environment. Please be aware, however, that you must not behave in a manner that could have a negative impact on other trainees or on JIST staff members. You must also behave in a manner which does not create a safety or health risk to yourself or others.
JIST reserves the right to exclude any person from training whose behaviour is inappropriate or breeches the above rule. The Trainer will give a verbal warning and clear instructions as to the expected behaviour before moving to exclude a trainee.
If you have any questions about this matter, please contact JIST.
All students are reminded that it is unlawful to treat other people unfavorably because of their race, gender or sexual preferences. JIST asks you to be sensitive to the feelings of others.
Complaints and appeals:back to top
If you have any complaint, please speak to the Trainer to see if the matter can be resolved to your satisfaction. If the matter is not satisfactorily resolved, please put the matter in writing. The CEO will respond to this written request within 14 days outlining the outcome of the complaint or appeal, including the reasons for this outcome. If you are not satisfied, you may request that the complaint or appeal be forwarded to the Board of JIST for resolution. The Board will refer the matter to an independent review by an external person. You will be able to explain the matter to the independent person. All records about the appeal or grievance will be confidential and kept secure and will not be released to any other party without your direct written permission.
Records:back to top
Any records relating to your training will not be released to anyone without your direct permission. You are entitled to have reasonable access to copies of your personal records or information. Should JIST cease to operate, you should approach the Department of Education and Training for information about your records.
Relevant legislation:back to top
JIST complies with all commonwealth and state legislation and regulatory requirements that could affect your participation in our training courses. Relevant legislation is listed below.
